Must Watch : Ateneo BlueRepertory's LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS

For some time now, with everything else happening, seems I've forgotten the thrill of performing.  Didn't realize just how much I missed it until last Friday, right after watching Ateneo Blue Repertory's Little Shop of Horrors.  Directed by my happy good friend, Toff De Venecia (Director of blueRep's All Shook Up and Freakshow), Little Shop of Horrors is Blue Rep's 20th season premier production.

Still reeling from the thrill of the show experience, I'm inviting everyone (note that its more like, highly encouraging everyone!)to catch the show which runs only until this weekend!!! (August 27 to be exact!)  Don't be shy and contact Mica Fajardo at +63 917 890 8795 for ticket inquires and reservations!  Might I suggest doing that now? :D

AND, to know more about the production, cast and crew, visit their FB Page : https://www.facebook.com/bluereplsoh

Took the liberty of copying an excerpt from their page!
In the old days, it was all about selling your soul to the devil for fame and fortune. But ever heard of selling it to an evil, man-eating Venus Flytrap from outer space?
With all the pressures in a fast-paced world obsessed with money and beauty, it isn’t hard to imagine that anyone would do absolutely anything to fulfill their dreams – whether through hard work or Faustian deals. But with the allure of earning fast bucks and becoming overnight sensations, shady businesses have become a lot more common.
Even the honest-to-goodness nice guys aren’t immune to this kind of temptation, and Seymour Krelborn is one of them. He is the protagonist of Little Shop of Horrors, a black comedy musical satirizing old-school sci-fi movies and one of the longest running Off-Broadway shows of all time. With book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken, Little Shop of Horrors is the story of a miserable fellow named Seymour Krelborn, played by Luis Marcelo (Buddy in blueREP’s Freakshow), and his yearning for a better life and a chance at romance with Audrey, the love of his life, played by Maronne Cruz (Woman 2 in blueREP’s Edges, Scaramouche in blueREP’s Rock ‘N Rule). However, after being influenced by a devious plant, brought to life by Tina Ramos (Dionne in blueREP’s Hair, Woman 2 in blueREP’s Edges, Killer Queen in blueREP’s Rock ‘N Rule), Seymour must now choose between what is right and wrong, all for the sake of a little fame, money and glory.
CHEERS to Blue Rep!  Love it!

P.S.  As a BlueRep Alumni, I was just so very proud of how far my college org has gone and just how much passion the stage has that's there for everybody to soak in!  Makes me think if I could ever get back to doing auditions again...?!?  AAAH!  Getting jittery at the thought but... who knows, right? Well... lets just see!

Of Bridal Fairs, A Glam Camp Plus A Movie! AND Finally, an Outfit Post.

Last Saturday, spent the day with my girlfriends, 2 of whom is getting married (KWEY and BIANCA --- click on their names for their engagement stories! So cute!), at the Weddings & Beyond Bridal Fair at NBC Tent.  There were so many people who attended so it was a squeeze-thru at the aisles but as I was the official partner of Bianca (her fiance, Yan Yan, is in Canada), I was picking up fliers she could sort through later!

While it was fun checking out the current wedding trends, I felt a little ostracized cause I had an ID screaming "Guest" on it which probably made some booths think, "Oh she's not a client so... next bride please!"  BUT while I might not be a bride now, I will be eventually so they might have missed out on plenty of potential clients aka "Guests" at the event! Right?  Well, just saying!

Right after, dropped by GLAM CAMP hosted by ETC, 2nd Avenue and Diva Universal.  The venue was really nice (first timer!) and got to do just a tad bit of shopping but no worries cause I went away with this really chic goodie bag which had all sorts of happy in them!  Thanks and congratulations you guys!

OH and capped off the day with a movie and finally saw "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank".  Haven't gotten around to wording my thoughts about it but for now, I'd give it a 2-thumbs up rating!  And kudos to my theater friends, Meann and Cheeno, who were part of the film.  Great, great job!  Now, I kinda miss theatre... *sniff*  Are there any auditions lurking around?

Hope your Saturday was as casual busy!

Cheers!

P.S.  Finally, an outfit post!  Pictures taken by JQ at the Glam Camp event!

Pre-HOST POST : Nivea + Mango Outfit POLL. Special Prize Up for Grabs!

BE PART OF THE OUTFIT POLL AND BE THE LUCKY WINNER OF A NIVEA + MANGO PRIZE!

Just about a month ago, I was already slated to host an event for NIVEA + MANGO and from the get-go, the event is a treat for every fashion gal!  GLAM EXPRESS : A Bloggers Event invites fashionistas to "express your style and flaunt your beautiful, hydrated skin."  The event will bring together the industry's top fashion and beauty bloggers as they experience first-hand NIVEA's Express Hydration Body Lotion - a product that's a sure must-have for every fashion gal - and be the first to try out the Glam Board Express Facebook Application.  On top of that, they also get to bring home fabulous gifts courtesy of NIVEA and MANGO.

Now, I don't want to give too much away since it won't be long til the event so while waiting can be cruel, you can bet that these treats will be worth your wait!  And while I am quite the self-confessed lotion freak, I'm right along with you guys, getting thrilled to be part of the project and the product's big reveal.

So last Thursday, after a meeting and a hurried lunch, I was off to Rockwell for my MANGO outfit pullout.  With their resident stylist out of town, I put my styling skills to the test to come up with an outfit that expresses my style and of course, flaunts my hydrated skin!  I also tried to work with the colors blue, white and silver (NIVEA's colors of course!) to keep with the theme!

AND here's the exciting part... An OUTFIT POLL!  Here are 3 possible outfits for the event and I'd really appreciate your help in choosing which one you think is best!

There's more... A SPECIAL PRIZE courtesy of NIVEA and/or MANGO will be given to the lucky voter/commenter on this post!  The winner will be announced by the end of the week!

To keep things organized, here's the suggested VOTE / COMMENT FORMAT:
     NAME, EMAIL
     VOTED LOOK - WHY

EX.
     L.A., laferriols@gmail.com
     LOOK NO.1 - coz I like white!

A big THANK YOU in advance to everyone who will take time off their sched to leave a comment or two.

Come Thursday, the chosen outfit will make its official debut at the event!

Cheers!

1st LOOK  :  SHEER ELEGANCE

I was going for sophisticated chic meets a lil' bit of grunge.  I especially loved the lace top and the shorts cause they give the outfit texture and character.
While the event is wanting of skin, I didn't want to over kill it, sans the blazer!
Plus, white feels so right, don't you think?

2nd LOOK  :  COLOR BLOCKED

Color blocking is quite the trend these days and if you don't want to mix and match, a dress that does the job is always a treat!  You just have to remember to not over accessorize cause you might kill the outfit as a whole.  Moderation is key!

3rd LOOK  :  CHILL PILL

This for me is the most laid back outfit of the bunch.  When it comes to dressing up, sometimes its the simpler looks that just come off effortless.
Remember, true style isn't always trendy!

BTS  :  MNG Dressing Room

Advance thank you to MANGO for my outfit!

Onto my old tricks again... mirror shots

Went through a couple of outfits BEYA and I picked out

Travel Bug : SG Day Four Amazing Race

Finally!  The last and final post for SG 2011!  With JQ flying back to Manila a day earlier, KWEY and I spent the day doing our last minute shopping and just chilling in the city.  Shopping felt a lot like an amazing race as we probably hit about 6 malls along Orchard in a span of just 4 hours!  Crazy.  Strange though cause we were so bent on going shoe shopping at Charles & Keith and went to about 5 outlets and didn't even get to buy a single thing!  OH and so cute how we both got street cast for A&F! Who would've thought right!  Singapore just gives us so many reasons to keep coming back... or maybe even stay? :D

PLUS, my hunt for the ultimate kabuki brush was in vain :((  From Sephora to Sasa to Body Shop, SG... I couldn't find one that hit close to Kwey's uber nice kabuki brush!  (Speaking of which, anyone know where I can get a fluffy kabuki brush here in MNL? Many thanks in advance!)

We also got to lunch at MOS Burger and checked that off our list and dined fast food style at KFC (its really not the same without the gravy!!!)  Got a bit nostalgic when we remembered our first OTC (Out of The Country) trip with our girlfriends, LJ and ISA  (Bangkok was that perfect mash up of shopping, dining and clubbing all rolled in!)

Having rested, Kwey wanted to greet the Merlion properly so we hung out by the Merlion till midnight just in time to pick up our luggage from the hotel, board the plane and back home safe!  WHEW

Great trip, great company... now to the next destination! Wonder where that'll be...

Cheers!

P.S.  Now, I can get back to them daily posts!

Late Post  :  JULY 18, 2011

LUNCH! All yummy goodness

KWEY's addiction... chili sauce

Abercrombie & Fitch : Coming Soon.  KWEY too happy... about A&F or the model???

YES.  I SAW.  ABS.

H&M Opening Soon too!  Oh my wallet!

As we were walking towards the Merlion

And here we are!  Funny story :   We got to the Merlion and the water was still on, decided to chill and chat for about a good 1 1/2 hour and just when Kwey was ready to take her photos by the Merlion, the water shuts off!!!  To think, I just told her it couldn't possibly stop since its all iconic... Looks like even the Merlion needs to rest! HAHAH

Was people watching and this guy's smolder was just 500% of the normal kind!  Too bad the photo doesn't do his look justice... Ohwell!

What to do with the water-less Merlion... :D

On one of our walks out, saw a party bus and an on-going shoot!  TSK!  Kwey and I were not dressed enough to camouflage our way in! HA

And we bid Singapore, good night! :D
